Check out my horrible experience with Canon: http://canoniscriminal.blogspot.com/. I was scammed by a professional, and yet Canon has to sued me for $40,000. Disgusting. I would never buy, rent or lease anything from them. Ever. They are unethical and evil. Please spread the word, as this is my only form of recourse since I can't afford a lawyer or defend myself since the case is in another state (they had a jurisdiction clause in the lease).

Hi, I am from China. I like this Digital Camera very much. Canon S1IS, it's great!

Marcos

Hy. I've got same problems with Canon. Now I hate this company... CCD problems with S1 IS and they did nothing, absolutely nothing to try to solve my problem.

I have a ZR60 and a Powershot G6 and both of them are exhibiting this problem. I think I got conned by Canon in India who charged me upwards of USD 100 to fix my ZR60. Now they say it is an unrelated issue that I had. They refuse to fix my G6 since its not covered by the recall, but the symptoms is exactly the same - it worked fine when I was in US and now its not working in India. But they're demanding another 200 bucks for this. I think they're criminals.

Hi there I have a Canon MV730i which hasnt been used a great deal - when we record on it now it seems ok but when you play back the picture has thick lines going across the screen - does any one know why - thanks

I have a Canon Power Shot A70. Great little camera, but too sensitive. Just barely banged in on counter top and it stopped working, sent in for repair, cost $80.00, same thing again, small bang on camera, stopped working, sent in for repair, now cost me $109.00. Now it had happened again, still sitting here, not working. Too expensive on repairs and too sensitive. I tried a Kodak and it worked great, thinking of not buying Canon again and going to Kodak.

I have a canon powershot S400. It has the same problem. But it is not in the recall list:(

i had a SD110 i believe maybe it was a different recall but i just sent it back an they sent me back a shiny new looking (sticker said refurb.) sd1000 which is loads nicer than my 3-4 year old sd110. also sent new battery/charger/an even memory card even though i didnt send my accessories in. they said they were short on parts and couldnt repair it efficiently. just have to say i was very happy with the service!

I have a Canon ZR400 and it wouldn't load tapes so i sent it in for repairs. They wanted almost $200 to fix it so i told them to just send it back. when i got it back i opened it up, checked the connections to the circuit board and lo and behold a loose wire was all it was, so i fixed it myself, DIDN'T COST A THING. now that it loads tapes i guess it got dirty from the tape compartment being open for so long and when i try to play a mini dv tape it has grey bars, choppy video and choppy sound. i will NOT send it back to canon because CANON DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS, and they charge way too much. now they want me to send it back in n charge me who knows how much just to do tape path alignment or fix the loose posts which i'd rather try myself instead of giving THEM any more of my hard earned money. I WILL NEVER BUY OR RECOMMEND ANY1 BUY A CANON PRODUCT EVER AGAIN. please spread the word. sure they have a "genuine canon lens" but once the camcorder needs repairs, (which it will eventually) your screwed.

I recently had the same problem with my Canon S230. I sent it back and was treated more than fairly by Canon and recieved a much better camera as a replacement in roughly three weeks. Now my wife, a trained photographer, wants to take over my new camera.

Jaron

i own a canon camcorder a zr400 and when i sent it in, still under warranty mind you, they told me i had to pay to get it fixed because it had "major sand damage". Bull, i never even took the camera outside! i am an electronics repairman and I OPENED IT WHEN I GOT IT BACK AND IT WAS PERFECTLY CLEAN! now i HATE this company, they did NOTHING absolutely NOTHING to help me. DON'T BUY CANON PRODUCTS! THEY SUCK! SPREAD THE WORD!

I have a Powershot A300 that has turned purple on every pic. Is this something that is covered in the recall?

Canon Australia is still fixing the problem. I have just found the webpage and will be sending my A300 in for repair.

Too Good To Be True - But It happened!!

My Canon Power Shot S2IS screen went black. I read all these bluggers stories on Canon not working with people to recall the optical unit assembly or fix it for free. But I emailed them and they sent me a postal tag to mail it back to Canon and guess what folks - They fixed it for free as a "one time" courtesy. So my advice to you bluggers out there - be nice when you talk to Canon and they might be nice back :)
Thankful and taking pretty picture again:)

Sam

I Had this exact problem and canon quickly fixed it free of charge. yes it was a pain but I also puchased a newer canon camera being the SD1100 so now have 2 great cameras. unfortunately Even Canon can have problems as there are so many complex parts. they at least stood behind their products.
