Hi Ralph, I don't get the attraction of shiny screens which seem to be getting more common. My Dad chose a HP laptop over same spec (and slightly cheaper) Toshiba & Acer because they had mirrors for screens.

Is it because they are following Apple?

The excuse by hardware makers is that the shiny screen is better for DVD watching, but I dont how seeing myself AND the movie at the same time makes sense.

I vaguely remember reading it had something to do with perceived (not actual) contrast/brightness.
