Cosmic Blobs
Pro Edition

I didn't know about this until I read about it today on Matt Lombard's blog, Matt Writes. (I enjoy reading his opinionated comments on SolidWorks, even if I disagree with some. Hey, I really liked those "fruit-cakes from 2006.")

In his entry of today, Inventor and Alias - What does that have to do with SolidWorks?, he makes reference to CB Model Pro, the professional version of Cosmic Blobs -- which is for kids (though not my kids; they never did figure it out or show much interest).

Did you know Pro existed? Not me. Do Dassault's marketing people know it exists? There is no press release. The first reference to it was nearly a month ago on Ricky Jordon's blog. Viral marketing, I s'pose. [Correction: Tom Meeks first posted about it in February.]

The CB Model Pro Web page is here, complete with agonized organic forms that I find repulsive and make me respond, "I'm not interested in software for creating horrific images." Fortunately, Tom Meeks has his CB Model Pro Fans blog that shows how the software creates beauty, instead of ugly.

Currently in beta for Mac and Windows. Free 12-19MB download.

I just don't understand the whole Monster thing for kids. They give my 5 year old Daughter nightmares, therefore, no Cosmic Blobs for her.

Tom Meeks Blog is pretty goood, but also preety dead. The current post is from May 22, 2007.
