CAD Love for Africa

CAD vendors are beginning to work in the part of the world that needs the most help. SolidWorks has been helping out Rwanda, and today we learned that Autodesk is giving $36,000 in cash to expand the Boksburg campus of African Academy in South Africa.

South Africa trains 5,000 students annually in drafting, reports The Star, but the SA Institute of Draughting says the demand is for 5x as many. Autodesk's gift will allow the school to increase its own 126-student capacity by 3x.

The CAD company also donated $875,000 of its AutoCAD, Inventor, and Revit software to the school, as well as the school's Web site.
