Oracle buys independent PLM vendor Agile Software for US$495 million. Charles Phillips, president of Oracle, says "Agile will serve as the foundation of an Oracle PLM offering." Some more details here. A year ago, Agile bought Cimmetry Systems for $40 million.

Is this Oraclean purchase a foreshadowing of a similar acquisition by beleaguered Microsoft?
