UGS: Illegal Sales to Customers

UGS got caught up in a legal reverse-loophole and it cost the company US$57,750. According to Jason Matechak, Benjamin Lindorf and Keith Coleman of Mondaq, SDRC sold its software to customers in India and China -- which is okay.

But, SDRC accidently sold its CAD-related software to specific end-users on a list maintained by the US Department of Commerce -- kind of like a no-fly list for software sales. UGS paid the fine because the company owns what used to be SDRC.
