Inventor Media Event, Part I

Bill Fane, MCAD writer for several magazines, reports on Autodesk's Inventor event in San Francisco earlier this week:

There were three of the "usual" real-customer presentations. I found them interesting in that they were not Autodesk sales-pitch promos about the latest and greatest, but were real-world users. One, for example, was still using Inventor 9 although they are thinking of upgrading to release 11 because it will overcome some of the shortcomings that 9 has in their particular application.

The real fun was the last hour and a half. We were shown demos of some very significant features that they are contemplating for possible inclusion in unspecified future releases. These did not appear to be scripted mock-ups, but seemed to be fully functional and stable.

The interesting thing is, we were NOT asked to sign a non-disclosure and are under no embargo. Their explanation; they don't know when or if these features will appear, so they can't hold us to an embargo date, so everything they showed us is wide open.
