AutoCAD 2007 Tip: Twisted Walls

Two new commands in AutoCAD 2007 draw 3D walls (polysolid) and create swept objects (sweep). It turns out that the polysolid command creates its walls from sweep objects. And since sweep objects can be twisted, so can polysolid walls.

Here's how to create twisted walls:

1. Use the polysolid command to draw the 3D wall with two or more segments.
2. Select the wall.
3. Right-click, and then select Properties from the shortcut menu.
4. In the Properties palette, change the value of Twist Along Path from 0 degrees to 10, or other angle.

Notice that AutoCAD mitres the walls at their intersections, where the twisting takes place.
