Competitors Swap Venues

For the last several years, SolidWorks World was held in January in Orlando FL. And Autodesk Univeristy was held each December in Las Vegas NV.

This winter, the two arch-competitors switch locales: SolidWorks in Las Vegas and Autodesk in Orlando. Coincidence? Surely.

Unrelated Update

Uh, uh. Autodesk'ers are going to falling all over themselves, ROFL over the title of a new book: "SolidWorks for Dummies."

Say it's not so. But the press release confirms that Greg Jankowski has written it: "A New Book for Smart Engineers: SolidWorks for Dummies. #1 3D CAD Software is First in Industry to Be Highlighted in Popular Series Renowned for Clarity, Humor, and Gentleness". I dunno about that "first in industry" claim, because the counterpart already exists: "AutoCAD for Dummies."

AutoCAD users switching to SolidWorks are not expected to be dummies, however: "...SolidWorks For Dummies is ideal for seasoned users of AutoCAD 2D software..." The author also wrote "Solidworks for Autocad Users" back in 1998.

(This reminds me of a fictional book title I heard on the radio last week: "Self Esteem for Dummies.")
