CAD shares are hot!
Intergraph, the CAD company that nearly died around the turn of the millennium, is back: its shares are trading at US$30, close to their all-time high -- back in 1988!
Autodesk is at its all-time high, and has been for now for two years. Compare the growth (or lack thereof) between Autodesk and Microsoft (charted provided by Yahoo).
The chart compares the relative growth of ADSK and MSFT shares, starting from the same point five years ago, when the Internet bubble burst. If you would have bought shares back then, you would have lost money on Microsoft, and profited handsomely with Autodesk. More recently, however, Microsoft has began paying dividends, while Autodesk has shut them down.
