What's Up? Daratech Reports Bentley Revenues

A press release from Bentley Systems reports:

"According to the just-released findings of market researcher Daratech, Inc., Bentley's record 2004 revenue of more than US$300 million and recurring revenue of more than $200 million place the company as the leading vendor in 14 Daratech plant software market categories, including:

* Overall software sales and recurring revenue for plant creation.
* Software and services sales of plant-specific platforms.
* Software and services sales to owner-operators for plant creation (with revenue in this category greater than the total of the three closest vendors).
* Software sales and recurring software revenue for conceptual plant creation."

That's swell, but there's a problem. Why is Bentley reporting on Daratech reporting on Bentley? A couple of years ago, following the halted IPO [inital public offering] attempt, Bentley said they'd release selected financial statements annually -- as if they already were a public company.

It happened for one year, but no more. I've asked Bentley's pr people about this, and await their reply.

BTW, the chart at the top of this item is from Daratech's Web site: it shows "Total Quarterly Revenue Growth" for five CAD-related companies. I am guessing that the recent upturn for Autodesk (and mirrored downturn for Dassault) is due to the weakening American dollar.
