Tips: AutoCAD - Complex Linetypes
Q: I am an AutoCAD user, but I have trouble to create a complex linetype. Is it possible to make a flow line that looks like ----->------>--------> something like what I'm showing?
- M. K. K-R.
A: Yes, it is possible. Here is the steps:
1. Open the acad.lin file in Notepad.
2. Scroll down to
3. Take some existing code, and make a copy of its, such as:
*FENCELINE1,Fenceline circle ----0-----0----0-----0----0-----0--
A,.25,-.1,[CIRC1,ltypeshp.shx,x=-.1,s=.1],-.1,1
4. Figure out the code for the > symbol, and stick it in the copied code, as shown below:
*ARROWFLOW,Flowline Direction ---->----->---->----->---->----->--
A,.25,-.1,[">",STANDARD,x=-.1,s=.1],-.1,1
You're going to have to play with the parameters a bit, to make the arrowhead centered in the line. Check out my tutorial on creating complex linetypes at:

Aman:
Sorry, but AutoCAD is incapable of drawing parallel lines as a linetype.
As a workaround, you could:
1. Use the Track linetype to draw the center line.
2. And then use the Offset command to draw the two outer lines.

I am using Civil 3D 2006 and as with the releases since 2000 it uses PaperSpace to set up sheets. I have some basic experience with creating linetypes but need a little help on this one. Here is an example of what I need. I have a linetype defined now for Overhead Electrical lines. The problem is, depending on the way the view is rotated, the text in the line may be upside down. Now if you have any experience with Engineers you know that this is less than desired. What I am looking for is a way to make every other listing of the text in the linetype to be upside down. That way no matter which way my view is rotated there will always be an equal amount of text in the linetype that is easily readable. Can you help me on this.
